Cake, Cake, and More Cake!

This is my final cake from the Wilton fondant and gum paste class. I chose the design because I wanted Michelle (I am doing her wedding cake in Sept)an example of how we can incorporate the colors into the cake with the design that she wanted. I figured if I had to make a cake anyway, I might as well make one that served both purposes. It is a bit sloppy because I was trying to hurry, but it is at least a general idea. The flowers were originally three different colors, but the light pink ones(that will match the brides boquet), faded when they dried, and they looked the same as the white ones that have a pink sunburst in the center. This would represent the top tier of a three tiered cake if there was no cake topper.

Cupcakes

For Activity day girls yesterday, We had a mini cake decorating class. I had some leftover cupcakes and frosting, so we let Riley and Payton "decorate" them. This is not an unusual sight at our house. I often have leftover frosting after my cake projects. They love it. It is worth the mess to see them have so much fun!(Sorry there are so many pictures). Payton's "cupcake" was really more like a crumb, but it kept her busy for quite a while. She particularly likes to use the multi-bag method. If one bag is good...then three must be even better. This is Riley's step-by-step method for cupcake decorating: Step 1.Get as much frosting as possible onto the cupcake. Step 2. Lick any excess frosting from the tip. Step3.Spread it around to mix all the colors. Step 4.Lick the knife. Step 5.Repeat steps 1-4 as many times as possible.

Cousins

Riley and Ava have been playing together every tuesday, and Riley has been loving it! She looks forward to it all week.

Boingy Boing

So, a few days ago we bought the girls some baloons to play with. We blew them up, and they had a great time playing with them. Riley found a shoe string, and asked me if I would tie it onto her baloon. As soon as I did, she became SUPER sad! She had a look of utter dissapointment on her face. Apparently her three year old logic told her that as soon as you tie the string onto the baloon, it would float.
She was upset about it for like 10 minutes. I mean on the verge of tears upset. It was a hard life lesson for her at the time. Then she decided to look on the bright side, and turn the baloon into her pet. So now we have a pet baloon at our house. Her name is boingy boing. I am pleased to report that she gets a lot of love! She even gets to watch cartoons with Riely. They dance together, and have a lot of fun hanging out. Yesterday we had Lexi and Hannah over for lunch. Hannah needed a pet baloon to play with as well. So we now have a second pet baloon. Her name is foingy foing. I think maybe they are twins. I have to tell you that there is almost nothing bettter than having a three year old at our house to make us laugh everyday!

Tutu's

Here are a few pictures of the girls in the tutu's that I made for them (thanks for the idea Jen). Payton started dancing as soon I put it on her. It was so cute. Riley insisted that they needed music so they could dance. They wanted me to keep spinning them around. What is it about tutu's and spinning anyway?

Aprons

I made Riley a hot pink and purple satin super hero cape for Christmas, and she got a kitchen as well, so she will bring me her super hero cape and ask me to tie it on the front so that she can be a "chef." So I decided it was time to make an apron for her and Payton. Anything that goes into the dress-up box gets a lot of love at our house! I think Tutus are next on the list.

Another Class, Another Cake

Here is yet another cake from fondant and gum paste cake decorating class. This was a fun, and easy cake to make. Decorating a Spring-inspired cake is a good remedy for spring fever. I tried a new recipe for this cake, it is Key lime cake with key lime butter cream(inspired by the YUMMY key lime cupcake I had with Jackie at So Cupcakes).

Random Pics

Here are a few random pics from the last few days. This is what Payton does when you say, "Payton, where is your smile?" The picture of Riley is just a picture of her being silly for the camera.
