Castle

Last night we got a new stove...again. This time it actually works! Yay for me!!
Of course you can't bring a big box into our house without turning it in to a boat, spaceship, or in this case a castle(complete with a doggy door. Funny, because we don't even have a dog). This particular castle doesn't fit through the girls bedroom door, so we will get to enjoy a castle in the living room for the next few days. It is hours of entertainment for the girls, and they LOVE it, so it is totally worth it.

I Got A New Stove...Sort Of.

Refer to the Popcorn Balls post to see my old ugly, broken stove. So we went and got a new one last night. It is a lovely flat-top white stove that actually matches our "everything is white and makes me crazy because it feels like a hospital" kitchen...and the stove part doesn't work! This is the part where I want to scream. But at least it looks better than the black and bisque ancient one we had before. However, astetics only get you so far. I still can't bake cookies. I think we are going to take it back and get the other one we really wanted (that was $100.00 more expensive). That is if our landlord approves. It is a little above the price range, so hopefully they will say it is okay! I NEED A STOVE!!!!

Popcorn Balls!

On Sunday I decided to make popcorn balls. I haven't made old fashioned popcorn in years. So, using the only amount of brain that I have leftover from baking a baby, I forgot to put the lid on when I made the first batch. You know how fast popcorn can burn, so I couldn't even stop and get the lid. Jace was no help either. Instead of a lid, he grabbed thae camera (classic) and just took pictures and laughed. Riley was trying to "help" by eating the popcorn casualties. It was pretty funny, and my kitchen was COVERED in popcorn. Let's just say tat it worked out much better when I used a lid! I was using a new recipe, and the end result was delish! Riley helped me make the balls, adn she wanted to make sure that Payton got one (she was taking a nap during the excitement), so she made one that was "just her size." She is always making sure that Payton is taken care of, it is so sweet! Not to self...don't forget the lid!!

Wrapping it up for Winter

Heath and Dwight went to Jasper to finish up some details on the cabin. They spent all day saturday and were able to get the kitchen window in and also all the outside window trim done. After we get the doors finished up we can focus on the interior.

Homecoming

Kyle got to have a second homecoming because he had to wait three weeks to talk in church. With the exception of Mandi's family and some of Anji's family, the entire Martin family was together for the weekend. We peppered Kyle with mission questions and enjoyed some time visiting. He also gave us all some great souvenirs from the Philippines. We’re glad to have him back.

Cabin Weekend

Winter is fast approaching and we decided to extend our weekend trip to the valley for Kyle's homecoming talk so that we could work on the cabin. There were lots of us working hard to try to close the cabin up before it gets filled with snow. Jody worked on the caulking, Heath, Trevor, and I worked on the roof, and Brandon, Kyle, and Dad worked on windows. Mom helped watch the girls, take pictures, and prepare lunch. The group effort helped us make some great progress and we are one step closer to finishing the exterior. It has been a long summer.

Family trip down to work on the cabin.

What's in a Name?

We are getting really close to welcoming our new addition to our family, and I am still undecided on a name. We have a boy name picked out, but I am struggling for a girl name that will stick. There are a few that I like, but none that I am ready to commit to. This isn't unusual for me. With both Riley and Payton we went to the hospital with about three names, and finally decided after they were born. This is not a case of feeling like I need to see the baby first, I just can't settle on a name until I have to. Dioes anyone have any suggestions?

Unexpected Ultrasound

For those of you who know the latest baby update, you can just skip this post. For those of you that don't, I went in to see my doctor three weeks ago and I measured small, but not unusually small. My doctor said it was nothing to be concerned about, so we didn't worry about it. Then two weeks later (last week) we went back and I measured an inch smaller than I had two weeks before. So we ended up having an unexpected ultrasound that day. The baby looked good, and everything on the inside looked good. The baby measured two weeks behind gestation, but since I am small, there is less cause for concern. I am not exactally in the 10 lb baby making buisness. So for now She is just going to watch me really close and I may have a few ultrasounds depending on how I measure when I go in every week. I go in again tomorrow, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the baby is doing well. I am hoping to be able to bake this baby for at least another week or two. I will post updates as they come.

Here is a icture we got of the baby's profile:

Cute Girl

This is just a picture I took of Payton today. No story to go with this one, just a picture of one stinkin' cute little girl.

Getting Ready To Be A Bride

"Mommy, guess what I am doing."
"what?"
"I am getting ready to be a bride."

I have seen a lot of brides lately, but this one is my favorite!

Cade's Birthday

Anji and Jon are out of town on a little getaway. So we got to have the kids over for a sleepover. It was Cade's Birthday, so we made a goombas cake, which is one of the little dudes on Mario Brothers. Anyhow, I didn't even know what it was, but luckily Anji sent me some pictures of what it "should" look like. It wasn't perfect, but he loved it anyway. After Cake we opened a few presents. It was fun to have him over to celebrate on his birthday!
