Just a Little Peek of the Twins

Here is a little taste of the twins. I will post more pictures and the story of how it all went down (for those who would like to know). But for now, here are a couple pictures. They are in separate warmers in the NICU, so We haven't had a chance to take any pictures of them side by side. I am hoping we can today.

Presley Kaye Martin: 3 lbs 14 oz. 16 inches long.

Reese Antionette Martin: 3 lbs 6 oz. 16 1/2 inches long.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks!!

The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster ride for us! Two weeks ago I went into labor and delivery for regular monitoring. While I was there, I went into pre-term labor and I was having contractions every minute and a half. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions and gave me another shot of Beta Methazone for the babies' lungs. I was admitted to the hospital and ended up having a 5 day stay on constant monitoring. Baby A was having some issues with her heart rate dipping after contractions, so they wanted to watch her really close. We weren't sure for a while what day, or if I would even be able to go home at all. Luckily, I was able to go home. They put me on modifiel bed rest, which wasn't too bad since I could be up and a bout for a couple of hours at a time. It was a huge sigh of relief to be able to get out of that uncomfortablke hospital bed and be with my family. I sure missed my kids while I was chained to that bed!

I went in for a growth scan ultrasound with my specialist on Thursday, and we discovered that the babies had not grown at all over the past two weeks. In fact, it showed that they had lost weight (this is unlikely. The scans get less acurate the further along you get), but the definately didn't do ANY growing. They came in at a whopping 3lbs 7 oz (3lbs 8 oz two weeks prior), and 3lbs 4 oz (3 lbs 7 oz two weeks prior). That definately made me nervous. They talked about admitting me again, but in the end decided to let me go home on strict bedrest (I can only be up for 30 minutes every 6 hours), and increased the amount of appointments (just in case the 3 appointments a week I already had wasn't enough). They also moved my induction date up a week from July 25th to july 19th. That is just 9 DAYS AWAY!!! I will be 36 weeks, and we are just hoping that and of my appointments between now and then go smoothly. If not, then these girls just might be making an early debut.

So basically, we have been through a gammat of emotions, and are trying to prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. The good news is that we are at a point that the babies would be okay, but it is just a matter of how long their stay would be in the NICU. I am hoping we can make it the full 10 days, adn by some small miracle bring our beautiful babies home with us.
