A Peek Into My Week

So, for those of you that visit my blog often, it may seem that I have been off the radar for a little bit. Between food poisoning(yes, and we ALL got it, except for Payton) and shooting and editing a wedding this week, I haven't been able to blog, and haven't had much to blog about anyhow. Jace and I shot this wedding last weekend (and I did the brides hair). It was a bit of a tough wedding to shoot, with less than ideal lighting conditions, and tight quarters. But we were still able to get some good stuff. If anyone thinks that you just take pictures, and then you are done, I am afraid you are quite wrong. It takes many hours of editing when you start off with about 1500-2500 images, and have to narrow it down to about 700-1000. Each and every one of those images, is color-corrected, and enhanced to really showcase the event. It is a dirty job, but someone has got to do it. I am glad to say that I am finished editing, and the images are ready to go into the hands of the happy couple. Here is a little glmipse of what I have been working on.

Easter Party

We had a family Easter party at Heath and Stephs house last weekend (since they will be in California for Easter, we did it a week early). We had a great time. we had good food, good company, and fun activities for the kiddos. I think everyone had a great time. Thanks Heath and Steph for hosting!

Riley's Version of Her Name

Riley has been practicing writing her name lately (with no help form us, I might add). She hasn't quite figured it out yet, but She does pretty good considering that we haven't really worked on writing any of the letters in her name yet (we are still at the beginning of the alfabet). Since she really wants to write her name all the time, I think we will jump to her "name letters" next. We scanned the picture for journaling purposes (and no it isn't backwards. That is how she actually wrote it).

Quick Update

Well, after watching Payton sleep and lay around ALL DAY, I took the girls to the doctor. I guess seeing my baby looking and feeling somewhat lethargic makes me nervous with all of the respiratory and oxygen issues we have had in the past. I was also concerned about the possibly of her being dehydrated. So I followed my instincts and took them in. As it turns out, they both have a common cold...and strep throat on top of it. Poor Patyon also has an ear infection. She got the triple whammy. No wonder she has been so miserable. Riley feels really good considering. She is still her happy playful self. We decided to have her tested for strep as well after Payton's test came back positive, and sure enough, she had it as well. But at least she doesn't feel quite as horrible as Payton. I just thought I would give an update.

Sick Little Girls

I took this picture of Payton this morning while she and Riley were watching cartoons. I am not sure how much cartoon watching Payton did. Riley is sick as well, but is doing much better than our little Payton. She definately got the worst of it. This may result in a visit to the doctor if things don't start getting better soon.

Snow Day

After our big snowstorm this week, the girls went outside to play in the snow with Daddy. Of course when they realized that the kids next door were outside as well, Jace started a snowball fight over the fence. It was pretty funny. Then they eventually came over and they had a more "hands on" type of snowball fight. I am pretty sure that the Martin's won!

Bangs!

Since it was haircut day at our house (jace got a haircut also) I decided to give Riley some bangs. Not short bangs, just something to help blend in all of the "new growth" at her hairline. I have been thinking about it for a while, and just decided that today was the day. It isn't a drastic change, because her hair swoops to the side anyway. Now it just blends into the back much better. I think she looks so adoreable. What a little beauty!

Payton's First Haircut

Payton had her first haircut today. She did really well holding still. I think she has seen me do enough haircuts that she knew just what to do. She sure was cute sitting like a an old pro, and wearing the cape. She looked so big. My little baby isn't a little baby anymore.

Markers

While my parents were here, they bought the girls some paint brush-like markers. Riley loves them, and I love that they are washable!

Making Mommy's B-day Cake

Jace and Riley also made me a Birthday cake. It had a few structural issues, but it was really cute, and it made me laugh. I have the best husband in the world!!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!

Sunday was my birthday, and it was a really great one this year. My parents came to visit for the weekend(sadly, no pictures)and we had a great time. We went shopping and then they took us to dinner at Papadeaux(our favorite seafood restaurant). We felt really spoiled! They had to go home Sunday morning because my dad had to work, but Jace made sure to continue making my birthday special. He cooked me dinner(with some coaching from me, of course). I taught him to cook Jambalaya. It was delicious, and it was awesome not having to cook all weekend! Thanks for making my birthday so great!
